Behind the name

1 Corinthians 10:31
"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

I chose the name "A Soul's Purpose" after one of my favorite verses, 1 Corinthians 10:31. Every Christian has a specific calling in life whether it's to preach, teach, missions, etc. but our purpose in life is to glorify God.

A Christian's purpose in life is to simply Glorify God, in all areas of life.
Although I knew this, it wasn't until I was studying 1 Corinthians that it really just spoke to me. When I got to this verse, I became stuck. I just kept reading it over and over. I began asking myself, "Am I glorifying God in all areas?" This verse tells us even if we are just eating we can glorify God.  In our everyday life we have many chances to give glory to God but we often ever do. At work we are to busy, at home we are to busy,  and sometimes we are to busy at church, yes even church!

We tend to only give God the glory when he has done something extra for us, like getting a bonus at work. This verse screamed "NEWSFLASH!" I was reminded God did plenty for us when He sent His Son to die on the cross for us. He owes us nothing! He is still God if He doesn't answer our prayer request as soon as we would like or we didn't get the job we were wanting. He is the One who gave His life for us. He bled and died for our sins.

After reading this verse over and over and looking over my life I realized I do not give glory to Him as often as I should. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure God loves to see us tweet how blessed we are or post a picture of our latest blessing on Facebook but that isn't enough. We should "eat, drink, or WHATEVER for the glory of God."

In this blog I want to just share my devotions or whatever the Lord has placed on my heart. Whether it is something I am studying in the Word or something that has been tugging at my heart. This blog is to glorify God and it is my hope that it inspires, and helps you realize the importance of glorifying God to the highest!
